Backup Schedule Weekly

A Backup Schedule defines the time, time period allowed, and frequency that backup job for an existing backup set should be run automatically.

Key:

Field Description
Name Schedule task name.
Backup set type This option will only be displayed when you configure an MS SQL Server Backup or MS Exchange Server Backup. This is the type of backup to be done
  • For MS SQL Server Backup. The choices are: Full (default), Differential, Incremental (only for VSS mode) or Transaction Log (only for ODBC mode).
  • For MS Exchange Server Backup. The choices are: Database (default) or Log File.
Type Type of the schedule backup, eg: Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Custom.
Start backup Start backup time. The scheduled backup can be set to start either
  • At a specific time. (default)
or
  • Every, set interval in minutes or hours.
    Minute interval: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 minutes.
    Hourly interval: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 or 12 hours.
Stop Stop backup time. This only applies to schedules with start backup "at" and is not supported for periodic backup schedule (start backup "every"). The scheduled backup can be set to stop either
  • Until full backup is completed regardless of how much time it takes. (default)
or
  • After the backup has started for the set time (1-24 hr) regardless if the backup is done.
Run Retention Policy after backup After the backup, %edition_name% will follow the retention setup to clean up the disk space.

To set up a backup schedule:

Example :

To configure a Weekly backup schedule where backup job will run on Friday every week at 8:00pm:

  1. Enter name of the backup schedule.
  2. Select "Weekly" from the schedule [Type] dropdown menu.
  3. Select the checkbox beside [Fri].
  4. Select "at" from the [Start backup] dropdown menu and configure the start time to 20:00 from the dropdown menu.
  5. Configure the stop option according to your requirement.
  6. Option: Check the [Run Retention Policy after backup] checkbox if necessary.
  7. Click [OK] to save.

To configure a periodic backup schedule where backup job will run every hour every Sunday:

  1. Enter name of the backup schedule.
  2. Select "Weekly" from the schedule [Type] dropdown menu.
  3. Select the checkbox beside [Sun].
  4. Select "every" from the [Start backup] dropdown menu and select the interval which is "1 hour" from the dropdown menu.
  5. Option: Check the [Run Retention Policy after backup] checkbox if necessary.
  6. Click [OK] to save.

To modify an existing backup schedule:

  1. Modify the backup schedule name if necessary.
  2. The type of the backup schedule cannot be modified. If you need another type of schedule, you need to create a new schedule type.
  3. Modify the day of the week according to your requirement.
  4. Modify the start time according to your requirement.
  5. Modify the stop option according to your requirement.
  6. Option: Check/Uncheck the Run Retention Policy after backup checkbox if necessary.
  7. Click [OK] to save.

To delete a backup schedule:

  1. Click [Delete this backup schedule] link located at the lower left part of the page.
  2. Click the [Yes] button in the confirmation page that would appear if you want to delete it. Otherwise click [No], to keep the backup schedule.
