Backup Destination

Key:

Field Description
Name Name of the backup destination.
Type Backup destination type, either Single storage destination or Destination pool.
Run Direct This option will be shown when you configure a VMware ESXi or vCenter backup set. This feature will allow the user to restore virtual machine almost instantly. It is done by mounting the backup destination as a data store, where the guest VM will be run backup directly from the backup file. The Run Direct checkbox is enabled by default.

Note: In order to use the Run Direct feature, your VMware ESXi or vCenter host must be running with a paid VMware license key, i.e. VMware Essentials License or above, which supports the change block tracking (CBT) feature.
Destination storage Backup destination storage which can be set to Local / Mapped Drive / Network Drive / Removable Drive, Cloud storage or FTP/SFTP. Selection varies depending on your backup module.

To create a backup destination on the Backup Server:

  1. Select '%cbs_name%' from the [Destination storage] drop down box.
  2. Click [OK] to add the new destination.

To create a destination pool on the Backup Server:

  1. Enter name of the backup destination pool.
  2. Select 'Destination pool' under [Type].
  3. Click [+] to add a new storage destination.
  4. Enter the name of the backup destination.
  5. Select '%cbs_name%' from the [Destination storage] drop down box.
  6. Click [OK] to add the new destination.
  7. Repeat the above steps to add a new backup destination to the pool.
  8. Once all the backup destination has been added, click [OK] to save the destination pool.
