Restore

Restore your Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, Tasks, Contacts, Google Chat, Google Meet, and Shared Drives to the Original User / Original Shared Drive, Alternate Location / Alternate Shared Drive, or to an Alternate login account.

Field Description
Select Your Data To Be Restored There are 2 options: 'Users' and 'Shared Drives'.
Select Your Items To Be Restored You can select items either from 'Choose from files as of job' or 'Choose from ALL files'. In addition, you can select the date and time from the dropdown list.
Restore Method How items will be restored, either 'Restore items to Google Workspace' or 'Save archive files to a destination'.
Restore Location There are three options: 'Original User / Original Shared Drive', 'Alternate User / Alternate Shared Drive', and 'Alternate login account'.
Version History (Available only when backing up Shared Drives) There are two options: 'Restore all versions' and 'Restore latest version only'.
Verify checksum of in-file delta files during restore When this option is checked, the checksum of in-file delta files will be verified during the restore process. This will check the data for errors during the restore process and create a data summary of the in-file delta files which will be included in the report.


To restore a Google Workspace backup set:

  1. Click on the destination that you want to restore the backup from.
  2. Select the data to be restored, choices are:
  3. Select the backup snapshot, either from 'Choose fromf iles as of job' or 'Choose from ALL files'. If 'Choose from files as of job' was selected, select the date and time of the backup from the date and time drop down box.
  4. Select the items to be restored. The items that will be displayed will depend on the data selected to be restored. These are the items that can be restored:
    Option: Filter items by entering a data range, then click [Show] to display items.
    Option: To view an item before selecting it for restore, click the [Preview] button. Once in the 'Preview' screen, you can download the email by clicking the [Quick Download] button.
    Option: Click the [Download] button to download and restore the item directly to a destination of your choice.
    Click [Next] once done selecting items for restore.
  5. Select the restore method: 'Restore items to Google Workspace' or 'Save archive files to a destination'.
    Select 'Version History' (Available only when backing up Shared Drives) Option: Click 'Show advanced option' link to show additional options. Click 'Verify checksum of in-file delta files during restore' check box if you want the in-file delta files to be checked.
  6. Click [Next] or [Restore] to begin the restore process.

Please note that choices for data to be restored will depend on the data that was backed up. Only one type of data can be restored at a time, e.g. if you choose to restore Users and Shared Drives, you can only restore Users first. Only after the restore of Users can you pursue the restore process for Shared Drived next.
